GOAL FOR THE WEEK -


Martial arts is not just about the physical conditioning, it has a mental component too. This week we focus on the mental aspect. Martial arts is not about fighting, it's about the journey of improvement.

For those on the testing list, work on your oral questions and the children's home rules. For the rest, work on the tenents of Tae Kwon Do and the members oath and how they relate to everyday life.

Fun Friday Trivia

What is the name of the Korean art of striking vital points?

Keupso Chirigi - The art of Keupso Chirigi is taught in most of the Korean martial arts. It is called Kyushu jutsu in Japanese. Focuses on the deadly points on the body that weaken the body. Usually only taught to high level black belts.

Who is considered the 'Father of American Taekwondo' and is believed to be the first Korean master to teach the art in the United States?

Jhoon Rhee. Master Rhee is credited with being the' father of American Taekwondo' and is also thought to be the first Korean master to bring that art to the United States in the 1950's, not long after it was founded by General Choi. Rhee originally trained in Tang Soo do.
